“Everything I’ve Got” is a new EP debuting for Gareth James, a very talented Singer/Songwriter from South Africa. Gareth has had a passion for music since he was 16 years old.
The haunting pull of the melody in “Everything I’ve Got” immediately draws the listener into the story of a young man’s devotion to his soul mate. The differences between the two and their inevitable interconnectedness is illustrated in lyrics like “I’m the water when it’s raining, I fall with every drop, she’s the sun light in the morning when I stop.” The yin and yang of opposites permeate this song, dancing with the soulful transitions in the music leaving the listener empathetic with the singer’s own uncertainty.
I thoroughly enjoyed “Everything I’ve Got” by Gareth James and wish only that the song didn’t have to end.
Gareth has played for various bands in his career and started The Undefind, who were voted number one on MxIT Music’s Top-20 band in 2008. Their first music video aired on MK and still plays there today. They were part of Cape Town’s first urban rock festival, FROCK and were also part of the birth of Rock-Out Radio. Gareth is also involved in charity organizations in the Western Cape, especially The Eerste River Empowerment Centre.
