It’s amazing what Determination can do for a person! I went for my run this morning and when I was finished I was excited about my progress. Today I was able to run more than a half mile at a time. I did my pattern of warming up for a 1/2 mile, then ran 1 mile, walked another 1/2 mile, ran a mile and walked a 1/2 for a cool down. So…..3.5 miles in total exercise. I told myself this morning I wanted to up the running to 1 mile intervals instead of the half mile. I did it! It really is Mind over Matter for most things you want to accomplish in life. If you tell yourself, “I Can’t do this” you probably won’t be able to do it. BUT if you plant the seed in your mind that you CAN do it, more than likely you will make your goal!
I began running late in life, age 42. I had never really ran, only if someone was chasing me, lol, but decided I wanted to try running. It has now been 11 years. I didn’t run for the past 2 years do to an illness and a slight knee injury, but I am back to it and couldn’t be happier. Running, for me, is my shield for stress. When I am running regularly I find I am able to handle stress much better. I can think clearer and thus accomplish more in my day. Don’t get me wrong, running doesn’t eliminate my stress, but it helps me cope with problems better and helps me solve problems more easily.
If you aren’t exercising on a regular basis, you really may want to start. It not only makes you healthier and look better but you can take on the world with much more positive energy. So what are you waiting for?
