Woke up today and it was my “Running day”, but I was not feeling like running today! My mind was working overtime with stress and I could have just turned over and went back to sleep, But…I knew I would not be happy with myself if I gave in to that voice that was saying, “It’s okay, you don’t have to run today”. So I got myself into my workout clothes, grabbed my water and my IPOD and kicked myself out the door. It was a beautiful morning and all the birds were happy so I should be too! I put some country music on and started down the street. Something I would like to share is when I run I don’t think about any of my problems or worries, I just concentrate on the music in my ears and my steps. This becomes more than exercise for me it also becomes a meditation period for me. Concentrating on moving your body and only that, helps you to clear your mind of stress, which will help you tackle the rest of the day. Next time you exercise, try this, think only about what you are doing at that very moment. As soon as a worry comes into your mind, push it away and think about exercising. It may take a few times in order for you to be able to accomplish this, but once you can, you will be surprised how much better your mind will feel after you are finished exercising. After my 4 miles today, I have to admit, I felt so much better than when I first woke up. I now can do what I need to do today and not concentrate on problems. So next time you wake up and feel worried or stressed, whatever you do, do not skip your exercise routine. It not only makes you more healthy and look better, it also helps your mind to work in a healthier way too. Happy Wednesday!
