While sitting at my computer with the window open after dusk, I heard a very loud crying, strange noise. It didn’t sound like dogs, or cats but something very different. I suddenly realized it was the foxes on the golf course. This is the time of year they have their pups and become quite aggressive to passers by on the cart path. While I was thinking about that poor person walking or running on the path and all of a sudden being scared to death by that cry, it hit me. These foxes were protecting what was so valuable to them, their family. They were keeping them safe from danger.
Family. That one word says so much. I mean that in a good way. 🙂 It’s important to spend time with your kids. It’s imperative that they have good memories of the family being together. Doing simple things such as sitting on the couch watching one of their favorite programs, even though you may not enjoy their show. My husband has often sat on the couch when my sons were younger watching “The Disney Channel” with them. It’s amazing how such a little thing can bring a spark to your child’s eye. Today, while spending the late afternoon at the beach, my 13-year-old was trying to get his Mo Jo back on with his surfing. It had been a year and he felt nervous. My husband was comfortable in his chair chilling. My son said, “Dad, would you come out in the water with me and help me catch some waves?” He did and when they were done, both of them came out of the water with huge smiles. That is a memory he will cherish as he grows older.
Spend time with your kids. It really is the little things that make a difference. Vacations are great, don’t get me wrong, I love them! But, simple, everyday memories, will resonate in their minds for years to come.
