While waiting for my husband the other day I was captivated by 3 young squirrels jumping from one tree to another. They barely landed on the branch they were jumping to and hung on for dear life with their little paws. They chattered and jumped, ran around on the trees and seemed to be having a ball! The temperature was very pleasant that afternoon with a nice breeze like we usually have here on the coast. It had been a challenging week and this little period of time watching these creatures was very entertaining and refreshing. I found myself so captivated with their antics and realized I was smiling and laughing to myself.
Admiring beautiful flowers, listening to a babbling brook or watching young animals frolic and play are great ways to let your mind rest and take a break. We all need to relax at times and taking a moment with nature is a great escape. It is the small bits of enjoyment in our our lives that we must grasp and revel in. Allow yourself a few minutes to get away from whatever occupies your thoughts. Doing this is like giving a gift to yourself. These moments will help you find perspective in your life.
