Nothing like a nice bike ride until you hit a huge hill. Biking uphill can be challenging. The start of the hill isn’t so bad, it’s when you get to the middle. That’s when you hit that moment when you begin to think, “Can I really keep pedaling or will I have to get off my bike and walk?” When it gets tough, don’t look at the entire hill, just glance down at the road and take it pedal by pedal, slowly watching the road move under your bike. Before you know it, you will be at the top.
Biking up a hill is a lot like life. Life has moments that seem insurmountable. Looking up the entire hill becomes daunting and causes us to feel overwhelmed. The trick is to only concentrate on what we have to accomplish right now. Work on tasks as they arise and don’t worry about what may or may not happen. Worrying is non productive and usually is wasted energy.
By handling the tasks at hand and not worrying about what the future might hold, you will have more energy to do what you need to do. So next time you have a task to do, remember that hill and just go pedal by pedal and you will reach the top of the hill without getting off your bike.
